Apply before 7 June 2024

We would like to inform you that the third call for project proposals of Interreg Europe is now open! Please note that applications will close on 7 June 2024 at noon. Here's what you need to know if you're interested in getting support to develop your project proposal, ranging from a series of online Q&A sessions to a full week of webinars.

The European Union's (EU) cohesion policy stands at the forefront of efforts to bridge development gaps and enhance the quality of life across European regions. A key instrument in this endeavour is the Interreg Europe program, which facilitates the exchange of ideas and capacity building among public authorities and relevant organisations. By focusing on innovation, sustainability, and inclusiveness, Interreg Europe aims to improve regional development policies and programs.

The third call for interregional cooperation projects focuses on interregional cooperation projects, bringing together policy-relevant organisations from different European countries to collaborate on common regional development issues. Eligible bodies for participation include public authorities, public law bodies, and private non-profit bodies. Beneficiaries can choose to cooperate on topics of shared relevance aligned with their regional needs, within the scope of cohesion policies.

Interreg supports projects in five thematic EU priorities, as well as fostering better governance:

• Smart;

• Green;

• Connected;

• Citizens;

• Social.

The eligible area for participation in the program covers the entire territory of the European Union, including its 27 Member States, as well as Norway, Switzerland, and the seven EU candidate countries. Organisations from these countries are eligible to participate in projects. However, please note for your partnerships that this call emphasises collaboration and inclusiveness, with positive consideration given to the participation of EU candidate countries and regions previously unrepresented in calls during the quality assessment process.

This third call has been allocated an estimated 40% of the overall Interreg funds budget (approximately €130 million). From this amount, an 80% of the funding will be allocated for policy objectives related to achieving a smarter, greener, and more social Europe, while the remaining percentage is dedicated to the other thematic EU priorities.

If you are interested in applying, Interreg has prepared a set of support tools to make your preparation for the project proposal easier:
