The 7th Interreg Euro-MED call for proposals is now open, focusing on sustainable tourism within the framework of the Mediterranean Multi-Programme Mechanism (MMM). The initiative brings together ten Interreg programmes operating across the Mediterranean basin to promote the transfer and uptake of solutions that have already been successfully developed and tested in other regions.

The call aims to support capitalization and knowledge transfer projects that adapt, replicate, and scale up tools, methodologies, strategies, and solutions previously developed under MMM programmes. The objective is to help transform tourism into a driver of inclusive growth, climate resilience, and territorial cohesion across the Mediterranean.

The indicative budget amounts to €8 million, including €6.4 million from Interreg funds and €1.6 million in national co-financing. The programme is expected to fund around 10 projects, each with a maximum budget of €800,000 and a duration of no more than 21 months.

The call focuses on four key areas of sustainable tourism:

• Shared governance of tourism development and destination management;

• The green transition of the tourism sector;

• The social and inclusive dimension of tourism, with particular attention to employment, skills development, and accessibility;

• The development of innovative and smart tourism products, leveraging digital technologies, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and new models of public–private cooperation.

Eligible partnerships must include at least five partners from five different countries within the Interreg Euro-MED cooperation area, with the lead partner required to be a public authority or a public law body. The programme also strongly encourages the participation of public authorities, territorial networks, universities, research centres, civil society organisations, and tourism businesses.
